Title: General Manager (part time)

Salary: c£32,000

Location: Hull with some hybrid working available

OVERVIEW:

An exciting opportunity has arisen with a small high profile charity in the Arts for a part time General Manager (4 days per week) with some hybrid working offered. Candidates should preferably have previous experience of the Arts/Not for Profit/Charity sector and sound knowledge of finance/HR/company secretarial duties.

THE ROLE:

This is a key appointment to the senior management team requiring a broad set of management skills and will be undertaken on a 4 days per week basis.

Knowledge and experience is required in the following areas:
Company Secretarial duties, HR, all relevant legislation relating to Charity law, Employment, Equality, Diversity, Environmental, Health & Safety, and Safeguarding and lead on the resolution of any arising issues.

Submission of all relevant paperwork to Companies House and the Charities Commission.

Development and delivery of organisational policies including the Environmental Policy, Staff Development Plan and managing Recruitment processes.

Monitoring, managing, reviewing, updating and reporting on the Business Plan.

A sound understanding of finance to enable to support and work collaboratively with the Finance Manager
Overseeing all aspects of financial management, ensuring appropriate systems and procedures are in place to ensure compliance and sustainability, and working closely with the Finance Manager to report regularly to the Board and sub-committees.

Overseeing the preparation of management accounts, cash-flow reports, annual accounts and financial risk analysis. In partnership with the AD/CEO, set realistic fundraising targets and milestones for decision making. Oversee compliance with UK financial legislation.

Oversee contracts for staff, freelancers, subcontractors and suppliers oversee all insurance arrangements, developing and managing all IT systems ensuring that these are fit-for-purpose and that all staff are familiar with their use. Overseeing the collection and management of data and acting as the Data Controller, managing the risk register and reporting in a timely and accurate manner to the Board to whom the post holder is ultimately accountable.

THE CANDIDATE:

You are an experienced manager with sound knowledge and experience in all areas of the requirement to fulfil the role effectively. Ideally you will have previously worked in the Arts/Not for Profit/Charity sector and have a good understanding of funding, grants and working alongside external stakeholders.

An excellent communicator with outstanding inter-personal skills you are an intuitive problem solver, a listener as well as being a proactive manager and have the ability to multi task. You work with high standards of governance in a sector with high compliance requirements for the sector.
