HR ASSISTANT (Maternity cover - starting Sept 2019 - Sept 2020)
Salary: £25,000
Location: North Lincs - Scunthorpe

THE ROLE:
-HR Assistant (maternity cover)
-This is a great opportunity for an HR Assistant/Advisor who has some solid operational HR generalist experience and feels ready to step up to the next level.
-My client is looking for an HR Assistant who can 'hit the floor running', can make decisions without needing to be micro-managed. Has enough experience and particularly a strong ER background where they can advise Line Managers and Supervisors on HR Best Practice.
-The role is working in the HR department and supporting the HR Manager ensuring HR policies and procedures are adhered to daily, advising Line Managers on the guidelines. Ensuring new starters have the necessary paperwork completed etc.
-Supporting Line Managers on absence management and other employment issues, making sure all aspects of HR Admin are correct and consistently implemented.
-Support with recruitment and on-boarding for production and warehousing - setting up new starters and completing all paperwork/references. 'Be the main contact for all ER issues for production and warehouse staff', advising Line Managers on employment issues, performance management, grievance, training needs etc.
-Maintain accurate records of sickness/absence - ideally used a Time & Attendance system.
-Experience of return to work and investigating missing interviews etc. Experience of dealing with long term sick and advising managers with the next steps and with policy etc. Some project work i.e. car fleet management, company phone mobile contracts would be an advantage.


THE CANDIDATE:
-CIPD level 3 or 5
-Experience working in manufacturing/warehouse environment (blue collar staff)
-Experience of working at HR Assistant or HR Advisor level in a manufacturing, logistic or warehousing environment.
-Excellent employment law knowledge, strong ER skills.
-Worked closely with Line Managers offering HR policy and procedure advice, ER advice and dealing with absence management.
-Experience of Recruitment and Selection; supporting recruitment and on-boarding, setting up new starters (experience of relevant systems would be an advantage such as HRMS and Tru-time).
-Experience of advising Line Managers on ER issues, employment issues including; recruitment disciplinary, performance improvement, grievance, training needs etc.
-Maintained accurate records on sickness/absence and worked on absence management tracking instances of sickness, monitoring return to work interviews and dealing with long term sickness. Ideally used a Time & Attendance system.
-Strong MS Office skills and experience. Organised and excellent with Word and IT systems.
-Maintained training records and organised first aid training.
-Has had some responsibility or capable of project management on some HR topics such as mobile phones, fleet management etc.
-Must have excellent up-to-date employment law knowledge.
-Ideally educated to A' Level
-Strong organisational skills and can demonstrate and give good examples - get things done approach
-Someone who can quickly understand and analyse complex issues and problems; comes up with sound and rational judgements.
-Excellent communication and networking skills; can make an impact, convince and persuade others, promotes plans and ideas successfully. Can develop strong stakeholder confidence and build a useful network of contacts and relationships across the business.
-Is capable of using a methodical and systematic approach; can plan ahead, define clear priorities and allocate resource effectively.
-Time & Attendance systems knowledge
-A strong team player/capable of working on their own
-Excellent experience working closely with Operational Line Managers
