An excellent opportunity has arisen in the education sector for an ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant to work as Financial Controller. My client has an outstanding reputation in Hull and the role will report into and work closely with the Head of Finance. This role offers a very generous holiday entitlement and pension scheme.


Reporting into and working closely alongside the Head of Finance the successful candidate will be involved in:

Month and year end management accounts preparation to deadline

Supervise and work with an Accounts Assistant to ensure all accruals, prepayments and journals are correct and are posted in a timely manner and ensure payroll has been processed to deadlines

Prepare monthly budget variance reports for distribution and prepare ad-hoc cash flow forecasts, assist with the preparation of initial and revised budgets, monitor departmental spend and investigate variances

Assist the auditors throughout the audit process to ensure a clean audit

Ensure the finance department follows the internal financial controls process

You are a qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant with broad based, versatile experience, excellent time management and organisational skills and the ability to communicate confidently and effectively at all levels.

Able to multi-task and work to deadlines, you enjoy working with a hands on approach and variety in a role as well as working with a small, friendly team

Previous experience of working in the education sector is not essential but knowledge of charity accounts would be useful. Candidates with the relevant skills and experience looking to make the move from professional practice are welcome to apply.
