Title: Experienced HR Assistant (strong on policies & procedures / employment law)

Salary FIXED TERM CONTRACT 6 Months - full time (might be potential to go temp to perm) - £21,990

Location: Grimsby

Our client is in the educational sector and seeking an experienced HR Assistant who can literally 'hit the floor running', strong on policies and procedures, supporting on absence management, delivering HR Best Practice supporting the HR team. This is a new role and reporting to the HR Manager putting some real structure and order into the HR department, dealing with a back log of work and supporting on managing absence and case-work. This is a busy HR position working in a really inclusive community.

THE ROLE:
The HR Assistant role is based at the Head Office in Grimsby working in the HR team and reporting into the HR Manager.
The HR Assistant will support the HR Team in delivering HR Best Practice, providing Managers with first line HR advice and support and occasionally traveling to other key local sites.

Main Responsibilities:
Supporting on recruitment administration - preparing documentation, placing adverts, organising interviews and dealing with GDPR, communicating with agencies, managers and candidates.
HR Admin - dealing with all new starter/leaver admin, working on HR systems recording all data, scanning, filing, collating employee information.
Assisting HR with giving relevant advice, note taking, supporting where necessary
Offering first line advice and guidance to Managers and first point of contact for HR queries.
Supporting Managers with casework, offering guidance to Managers on disciplinaries, policies, absence and training.

The Person:
Good standard of basic education.
CIPD Level 3 / or CPP / Graduate with HR degree and some office work experience.
Minimum of 6 months office work experience ideally working in an HR department.
Excellent experience and knowledge of IT and HR systems (able to use spreadsheets and simple formulas).
Basic understanding of Employment Law.
