Assistant Finance Compliance Manager

Salary: £30,000 per annum

Location: York

Our client, who operates in the transport sector, is looking for an Assistant Finance Compliance Manager to cover a fixed term contract for 12 months.
Reporting to the Finance Compliance Manager you will ensure that the business has appropriate financial controls, processes and policies in place to support business performance, minimise risk and protect company assets and identify improvement where appropriate.

THE ROLE:
Ensure that the company maintains appropriate corporate governance and that the statutory and regulatory reporting are maintained.
Ensure financial records contain accurate and complete information on a period basis and prepare reviews of the Balance Sheet reconciliation.
Undertake the financial accounting and reporting to group on a monthly basis, including preparation of statutory accounts and tax information to group.
Liaise with auditors to ensure that all relevant and necessary information is provided to result in satisfactory completion of any internal audits and the annual statutory audit.
Support the financial planning process through provision of BS, CF and IFRS16 accounting entries.
Ensure the effective operation of the Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, including liaison with service providers.
Ensure full compliance with all VAT and supplementary disclosures and HMRC reporting; including submission of VAT return to & P11D to HMRC. In addition to being responsible for the submissions to Office of National Statistics.
Identify and propose process improvements and work efficiently, effectively and in line with best practice and accounting standards.
Support in reviewing and reducing Fraud activity of online web sales.
Act as the company buyer through the management of iProcurement, ensuring all procurement is in line with local, divisional and Group policy and delegation of financial authority.
Coordinate new Tax CMS project and partner with the business & Group to collate required information and implement any required changes.
Undertake compliance activities, including: attendance at data protection and compliance champion meetings, management of GDPR subject access requests and incidents through to completion and management of any reports made on the Corporate Confidence registers site, roll out of policies and any ad hoc activities.
Act as BilMoG Champion and ensure all documentation and controls are up-to-date and in-line with Group guidance, carrying out audit testing and completing annual self-assessment of controls.
Support in GDPR and compliance initiatives and project work, assisting with continual improvement activities across the business, including: compliance reporting to, board reporting, data register review and update. Support the Head of Finance with the roll out and embedding of a risk management framework and policy in the business.

THE CANDIDATE:
You will be part qualified or Qualified by Experience with exposure to working in compliance areas. You will have a strong focus on delivery to tight deadlines including coordinating a wide array of stakeholders. You will be highly self motivated with excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.
